Impermanence is good news.
~~Richard Freeman, yoga teacher
Why a page on impermanence? Because it's true. Sometimes, uncomfortable, but a fact, nonetheless, and one worthy of our attention and familiarization. In Buddhism, it's one of the four thoughts that turn the mind toward the dharma (the teachings). The other thoughts being, precious human birth, samsara, and karma. What does 'impermanence' mean, in essence? It means, things change.
Why is this good news? What we experience in our minds and bodies as very solid and real, our illnesses, our symptoms, our aches, our pains, even our thoughts, are actually quite fluid and flexible, ever-changing. So, when we're feeling stuck, or even just not feeling all that well, we can know for certain, that it can change. In fact, it will change. This is good news. We can ride the waves of change and let them carry us in the direction of health, if we are but willing and open to feeling into this truism.
On this page, I'll be sharing things I encounter that I think others might enjoy as well, which tickle my "impermanence bone."
